Investing in your health goes beyond your diet. Yes, diet is a key component, but I’d like to explain the FIVE PILLARS of health that every #cancerboss should know

If you pay attention to these five pillars, your body will become dialed-in to healing. You’ll be vibrating with energy, feel better, look better, prevent further disease and stay out of the doctor’s office.

When you lay down the proper foundation for your health, you’re telling your body that you love it and it will respond. Conversely, if you’re not giving your body the proper information, you will not heal! This applies not only to cancer but for any disease.

Pillar One is DIET. 

As I mentioned, diet is a key component of your health and it’s extremely important that we’re feeding our body the right information. You should be giving it the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients it needs. 

So, that 99 cent taco that you been craving may taste good at the moment, but it is not providing you with any nutritional value. It is filling your stomach with the wrong information and making it harder for your body to heal. 

Your body needs unprocessed food, a variety of vegetables, protein and whole grains. Gasp… yes, even whole grains. A healthy diet has balance.

Pillar Two is PURPOSEFUL MOVEMENT. 

I use the words “purposeful movement” instead of “exercise” because it means something different to everyone. It could be what we usually envision exercise – pumping iron or running. But it could be a walk, a swim, or a hike. 

Did you know? Women who walk 20 minutes per day reduce the risk of breast cancer by 50%. So, get your tail out there and go for a walk. 

When you purposefully choose to move, you are telling your body that you care for it…that you love it.

Pillar Three is WATER intake. 

Hydration is one a vital component to your health and is often overlooked. If your body is hydrated, your immune system functions at a higher level. 

Dehydration causes your body to shut down. So drink up… room temperature, clear, clean, natural water. The recommendation is half your body weight in ounces. So if you are 150 lbs, you should be drinking 75 oz of water each day.

Pillar Four is SLEEP.  

If you’re not sleeping well, you’re not healing well. During restful, peaceful sleep our body has a chance to heal and repair. Ten minutes after you’ve fallen asleep, your body starts checking in and sending energy and cellular activity to where it’s needed. 

Sleep also allows you to do a brain dump and store all the information you’ve inputted during the day. So, if you have trouble falling asleep, try journaling. This will help you process the day. 

If you aren’t sleeping, you’re prone to irritability, stress, and anxiety.

Pillar Five is STRESS MANAGEMENT. 

This pillar is very much affected by the previous four pillars. If you’re stressed, it’s easy to forget to eat well or fall asleep. And vice versa, if your body is dehydrated, it will be stressed! 

You cannot have the proper response to stress without the other things in align. Stress also lowers your energy and makes it harder to have a proper healing respons
